The Nuclear Option must be considered in the context of any commitment to fighting climate change. Smith’s ESGradings webinar focuses on the role existing and new nuclear generation plays in transitioning to a reliable clean electricity grid.  US policy is targeted at development of an energy resource mix that is carbon-free.  Nuclear electricity generation currently provides a significant amount of carbon-free electricity but aging facilities; cost of new construction and development of new technologies define today.

On the panel will be Douglas Hunter, CEO of the Utah Association of Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) who will update on the UAMPS SMR Carbon Free Project; Tammy Wilson, VP, Treasurer and Chief Risk Officer for Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)  will report on TVA’s nuclear strategy from a risk perspective; and Matthew Crozat, Senior Director of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) will comment on the national trends on nuclear generation and outlook. Terry Smith of Smith's ESGradings will provide an introduction and overview of climate event risk and Dr. Scott MacDonald of Smith's Research & Gradings will provide an economic overview. Dan Aschenbach, President, AGVP Advisory, will moderate the webinar.
